On Friday 30 April 2021, I set out on a road trip to Grong Grong via Wombat with Natalie Isaac in the #nissanLEAF, part of Nissan’s sponsorship of 1 Million Women. We were headed to see Gemma’s farm in Grong Grong that is getting ready for a community solar garden project called Haystacks, and some of the people helping put this together. What a wonderful project!
Community owned energy is a great part of the puzzle for the future. If you can’t put solar on your roof (like if you own an apartment as I do, or you rent or your home cannot host PV panels for any reason) and you want to be part of the solar revolution then this project is for you. Some of the great partners involved include:
Gemma from Haystacks https://haystacks.solargarden.org.au
Felicity from Enova Energy https://www.enovaenergy.com.au
April from Pingala Energy https://pingala.org.au
Tracey from Valley Centre https://www.valleycentre.org.au
Interesting to note that there are lots of women involved in this nurturing, future looking project!
Driving through the NSW countryside in a no-emissions vehicle powered by the sun was amazing! Seeing the land that is benefiting from the recent rains, was glorious - big sky’s, sunshine, trailing clouds... Thanks to the Hawkers for having us stay at Wombat - always great to see you🙂 - and Gemma for having us around your firepit with lots of great conversations at Grong Grong🙂
