Caroline’s connection with the University of Newcastle began in 1993 as a full time lecturer for four years and a part time lecturer for one year, teaching Design, Environmental Design, User Studies and Implementation Studies. She was the year manager for Architecture 2 from ‘94 – ‘96. 2017 saw Caroline return as a contributor to design tutorials and reviews in the final year program. Caroline is currently in discussions about an appointment as Adjunct Professor – Practice.

Caroline is a graduate of the University of Sydney and first tutored Communications there in 1986. Since then, she has cemented this professional connection through tutoring in Design and as a Member of various Professional Advisory Committees. Since 2017 she has been involved in talking with the students of the Masters of Architecture Sustainability stream each year on green leadership, regenerative design, and how architecture is responding to the climate crisis.

Caroline was Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of the Built Environment between 2003 and 2007, and she has tutored in various Design studios between 2001 and 2007.

2022 saw Caroline start tutoring in the course “Introduction to Sustainable Design for Houses”, intended for anyone interested in this field, most of whom are not architects. A really well rounded course that covers the broad areas of sustainability brings this are to life for many.

Caroline worked with the PNG University of Technology in 1999 where she replaced the fourth year manager for 3 weeks.
