Caroline Pidcock has been shaped by the mighty water systems of the lands in which she was born (Grafton) and raised (Sydney) in NSW, Australia. She is inspired by the creative capacity of architecture and finding ways to explore potential for innovative and regenerative ideas.

Her architectural practice – PIDCOCK – has been inspired by the possibilities of creating beautiful places that demonstrate how the many issues that are fundamental to sustainability can be potent and profound influences. Her genuine interest and experience in sustainable built environments has been developed and enhanced through her involvement in in leading, initiating and participating in a diverse range of significant professional, academic and community organisations

2018 saw Caroline transitioning her practice (after 26 years) to another way of working, so that she can focus on how to strategically accelerate the uptake of regenerative ideas. particularly to address climate change.

In addition to her own practice, other roles Caroline currently enjoys include being Co-Chair of of the AIA National Climate Action and Sustainability Committee; Chair of the AIA Environment Design Guide Advisory Group; member of the Northern Beaches Design + Sustainability Panel, Sydney Olympic Park Authority Design Review Panel, and Liverpool Local Planning Panel. She is also teaching at a range of universities in NSW and a member of Sacred Heart Education Ministry Board.

Her previous roles as Spokesperson for Australian Architects Declare a Climate and Biodiversity Emergency; Chair of the 1 Million Women, Carriageworks and LFIA Boards; member of the Beyond Zero Emissions Advisory Committee; President of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council; President of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects in NSW and National Councillor; Industry Representative on the Australian Building Codes Board; Member of the South Australian Forest Industry Advisory Board, NSW Architects Registration Board, Greening Australia NSW, and Bicycle NSW Board; and adjunct professor/lecturer at a range of universities in NSW, exposed her to many government, business, academic and community arenas.

In 2022, Caroline was Awarded the Eneregy Efficiency Councils National Energy Efficiency Champion Award, in 2021 was jointly awarded the National AIA 2021 Leadership in Sustainability Award and in 2019 the AIA NSW President’s Award. In 2014, Caroline was recognised by the International Living Future Institute as a Living Building Hero and in 2011 was awarded the Marian Mahony Griffin Award in recognition of her contribution to architecture in NSW. In 2009, Caroline was awarded a Byera Hadley Scholarship to study “The Architecture of (Net) Zero Emissions Housing”.
